We Moustache You a Question

We Moustache You a Question

Okay, let's talk about reviews. We think they should be the foundation of the site. The news, interviews, and articles are great, but we want to be known as a place with lots of reviews.

In the past, we've always been exhaustive in the rules portion of our reviews--when someone finishes one of our reviews they know exactly how to play the game. But the truth is that those exhaustive reviews take a LOT of time to write. And it's been one of the reasons why our review output has dropped. (That plus, ya know...life!)

So we're asking your opinion. We promise it won't take long.

How important is it that our reviews are rules-exhaustive?

Kickstarter Weekly--October 9, 2014

Well it's full-on Fall! Football, leaves, apples, pumpkins--the whole nine yards. That also means a lot of the campaigns we've been looking forward to after seeing previews at the summer conventions are starting to hit Kickstarter! Including this week's featured campaign...

Featured Campaign!

Lanterns: The Harvest Festival - Foxtrot Games

In Lanterns you'll play the part of an artisan charged with decorating the lake for the Harvest Festival in Imperial China. Lanterns is a really great-looking tile-placement game, with a very cool double-edged feature, in that each tile you place benefits you, and every other player in the game! We're going to be posting our preview of the game here very soon. Spoiler alert: It's good!

Dead Drop -- A Double-Take Preview

Dead Drop -- A Double-Take Preview

No, no, it's not drop dead; it's Dead Drop. A Dead Drop is a term from the world of espionage as Dead Drops--it's a way to pass info to another spy.

Dead Drop has a lot going for it right out of the gate: It's a quick filler game designed by Jason Kotarski (of The Great Heartland Hauling Co. and Fidelitas fame), and it's being published by Crash Games, one of the most solid indie publishers in the industry. So how does it play? Is it worth playing? Here's our take.

Weekly Wonder--Do You Use House Rules?

Weekly Wonder--Do You Use House Rules?

A house rule is a rule that's not officially part of a game, but that people implement because it makes the game better, or more fun. One of the most popular games that people house-rule is Monopoly. Putting taxes on Free Parking? Not in the rules. And it makes the game last longer, when the point of the game is to force people into bankruptcy. Also, if someone doesn't buy an unowned property he lands on, there's an immediate auction. This also serves to speed up the game, but almost no one plays with that rule. So do you house-rule any games, and if so, which ones?

Kickstarter Weekly - October 2, 2014

Wait... October? This year is flying by very quickly, but the good news is that means there are a lot of great campaigns that are finally hitting doorsteps everywhere. Now let's talk about some more great campaigns that we're looking forward to seeing on shelves soon!

Featured Campaign-

Dead Drop - Crash Games

This micro game comes from our good friend Jason Kotarski, and is the latest in the Pub Game Series from Crash Games. Dead Drop is a game of deduction and deception. The game features just 13 cards, as players play as spies looking to pick up the "Dead Drop" by deducing and correctly guessing which card is the drop. This is an inexpensive game to get in on, and we'll be reviewing it very soon--it's a LOT of fun! We recommend you back it!

Breaking News: New Doubleclicks, and Fluxx!

Well, things have been a little, ok a lot crazy around here for the past few weeks. But amidst all of the craziness, we got a spiffy little email from our friends over at Looney Labs sharing with us some cool news!

So, apparently some prophecy has come true, and a big baddie has awoken to reign in terror over the free peoples of the land. Fortunately for those free peoples, the prophecy also tells of seven heroes who will join together to defeat this bad guy!

Today we're looking at Seventh Hero, from Alderac Entertainment Group and designer Kuro. Seventh Hero is a card game of set-collection, bluffing, and risk-management for 3-5 players.
