Well, the winners of the 2015 Spiel des Jahres, Kennerspiel des Jahres, and Kinderspiel des Jahres have been announced. You can read about the nominees here. Otherwise, let's talk about the winners!
Spiel des Jahres
This is the biggie. The game that wins this award is practically guaranteed big-time sales numbers. The 2015 winner is Colt Express, a fun, random game about a group of train robbers trying to be the one with the most loot when all is said and done. There are already three expansions in the works, so look for this one to have some legs. Or to devolve into 1,000 expansions, like Carcassonne. (Coming soon: Colt Express--The Catapult.)
Kennerspiel des Jahres
This is the award for the gamer's game, and in 2015 it goes to Broom Service, which is a reworking of the core system behind the OOP Witch's Brew. This time there's an added delivery mechanism, along with a few other tweaks.
Kinderspiel des Jahres
Finally, the children's game of the year for 2015 is Spinderella. (This actually won the award last month, but it didn't warrant a full blog post.)
So there you have it. What are your thoughts? Did they get the winners right? What would you have picked?
